Questions
Are you a licensed counselor?
Not yet. I'm a counselor intern finishing my master's degree, and I counsel only under the supervision of a licensed clinician. I passed the National Counselor Examination, and my associate license application is on file with the North Carolina Board. Once the Board issues my associate license after graduation, I plan to work as an associate counselor under supervision while I complete the hours needed for full licensure.
What is a counselor intern?
A counselor intern is a graduate student who has finished most of a counseling master's degree and now counsels real clients under the close supervision of a licensed clinician, as part of the program. After graduation in North Carolina, the next step is an associate license (LCMHCA), still under supervision, and then full licensure after about 3,000 supervised hours.
Is there a Spanish-speaking counselor near Waxhaw, Monroe, or south Charlotte?
Spanish-speaking counselors are hard to find in Union County and south Charlotte. I am a bilingual counselor intern based in Waxhaw, and after I graduate in December 2026, once my associate license is approved, I plan to see children, families, couples, and adults in Spanish and English, under supervision. Join the list and I'll email you when I'm able to take new clients. If you need help now, the NAMI HelpLine (1-800-950-6264) can help you find services.
Can I book a session with you now?
No, not yet. Join the list and I'll email you when I'm able to see new clients. If you need help now, please reach out to a licensed provider, your doctor, or the support lines on my resources page.
Do you offer counseling in Spanish?
Yes. Spanish is my first language. Once I'm seeing clients, sessions can be in Spanish, in English, or a mix of both, whatever feels most natural for you and your family.
Will you bring faith into counseling?
Only if you want to. My faith is important to me, and I'm happy to include yours if it matters to you. If it doesn't, I fully respect that. You lead.
Do you work with children?
Yes. Working with school-age children is one of my favorite parts of this work. I use play, drawing, and creative activities, and I involve parents as partners.
Will you offer online sessions?
I hope to offer both in-person sessions in the Waxhaw area and secure video sessions for people in North Carolina. Details will depend on the practice where I see clients.
How much will it cost? Do you take insurance?
That will depend on the practice where I begin seeing clients. I'll share fees and insurance details as soon as I know them.
Is what I share private?
Counseling is confidential, with limits required by law, for example if someone is at risk of harm or a child or vulnerable adult is being abused. Because I work under supervision, I also review my work with my clinical supervisor, who keeps it confidential too. I will explain all of this clearly before we start. Please don't send personal health details through this website or by email.
